Welsh Labour MEP, Derek Vaughan, this week hosted a large group of visitors from the Aberavon Constituency in the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday, 09 March 2010.
Over 50 people heard from Mr Vaughan on his work as an MEP, covering the whole of Wales, as well as finding about how EU investment is helping to transform the economic fortunes of South West Wales and the Valleys. They were also given a guided tour of the Parliament building in which the MEPs were meeting at the same time as the visit.
DEREK VAUGHAN MEP, commented:
"Hundreds of people every year come from Wales to visit the European Parliament to learn more about the EU and what it does.
I was especially pleased to be able to speak with the visitors from Aberavon - an area that I know very well from my time as leader of Neath Port Talbot Council – and to hear at first hand, their views on European issues.
This type of event helps me to keep in touch with grassroots opinion on the effect that the EU has on their day-to day lives and on the communities that they live in."
