Welsh MEP to visit £8.4m Snowdon visitor centre one year on

Hafod Eryri 2Welsh Labour MEP, Derek Vaughan, this week visited the iconic Hafod Eryri Snowdon Visitor Centre as the European funded attraction approaches the first anniversary of its official opening.

The project, developed over a period of 9 years, was brought to fruition with a £4.2m investment from the European Regional Development Fund.  More than half a million people visit Snowdon every year from the rest of Britain and beyond and contribute over £12m each year to the local economy.

DEREK VAUGHAN MEP said:

“Since the centre opened last June, it has become a high profile success, adding a significant boost to the fortunes of the economy in North Wales.”

“It is yet another example of how the European Union is bringing real benefits not just to local communities but to Wales as a whole.”

“Hafod Eryri is a landmark building that will serve generations of visitors to come and undoubtedly adds to the attractiveness of Snowdon as a destination for the people of Wales, the UK and right across the world.”
