Welsh Labour MEP backs Ed Miliband in leadership race

Ed Miliband MP

Welsh Labour MEP, Derek Vaughan, declared his support today for Ed Miliband to become the new leader of the Labour Party.

Mr Vaughan made his decision following careful consideration of the views of each candidate on major issues affecting Wales and the European Union.

DEREK VAUGHAN MEP said:

“Ed has the credibility, experience and ideas that we need to move the Labour Party forward following the recent general election campaign.”

“We need a figurehead with a clear vision for the party and for the country – someone who has the energy, values and the drive to communicate with the wider public and help us reconnect with people who, for one reason or another, did not support us back in May.”

“The Labour Party is very fortunate to have a talented slate of candidates to choose from in this contest but after meeting with Ed, when he came to speak with MEPs recently, I was very impressed at his grasp of the challenges that we are facing in Wales and at his desire to engage and shape the direction of the European Union for the benefit of the people that I represent.”
