MEP visits Biotec facility in Bridgend

Derek Vaughan MEP

Welsh Labour MEP, Derek Vaughan, has this week continued his fact finding tour of Welsh businesses with a visit to Bridgend based success story Biotec Services International Ltd.

The pharmaceutical company won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2009 in the International Trade Category and has a client base extending across Europe, the USA, Japan and Israel.  Established in 1997, Biotec operates from a custom built £1.5m facility in Bridgend and has an annual turnover in excess of £3m.

DEREK VAUGHAN MEP said:

“Whilst the economy, in general, is facing tough times, it is good to see a locally based company doing so well in the world marketplace.”

“They are right at the forefront of developments in the pharmaceutical industry and their strong trading performance has been recognised with them winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.”

“High tech, highly skilled employment is vital in Wales and companies such as Biotech are leading the way ahead.”
