Local Euro MP hosts EU debate in Rhyl

Rhyl Policy Forum

People across North Wales gathered last Friday night in Rhyl to have their say on the European Union at a special event organised by Welsh Labour MEP, Derek Vaughan.

Mr Vaughan, along with Rhyl MP, Chris Ruane, and AM, Ann Jones, debated the latest developments taking place in Europe and how they will affect the daily lives of local people.   They then took part in an interactive question and answer session with the audience at Ffordd Las Community Centre, Rhyl.

Speaking after the event, DEREK VAUGHAN MEP, commented:

“It proved to be an ideal opportunity to hear the views of those people who attended on what is happening on the EU and what we need to do to take advantage of the benefits that membership brings.”

“European funding is playing an important role in the regeneration of large parts of North Wales, especially in Rhyl itself, and increasingly, there is a realisation that a fully engaged relationship with the EU is the best way forward to tackle problems such as unemployment, falling prosperity and the need for jobs and growth.”

“I am always keen to keep in touch with local residents, groups and organisations and this was the first in a series of discussion events across Wales to let people speak with me face to face about topical EU issues and what decisions they feel need to be made to shape policies in the future.”
