Labour MEP visits Yale College, Wrexham

ASU Yale

On Friday, 02 October, Welsh Labour MEP Derek Vaughan visited Yale College in Wrexham to meet staff and students as well as tour its state of the art Grove Park Campus Learning Resource Centre.

Mr Vaughan spoke with international students from Europe and Asia, members of the Yale College Charity Project and Access Students who are currently studying the EU as part of their course.  He finished his three hour morning visit by spending time with staff and students from the Special Needs Additional Support Unit.

“With over 14,000 students and first class facilities, Yale College is equipping learners with the skills and knowledge that will allow them to compete not only in the North Wales economy but also in the jobs market against competition from further afield.”

“Yale College already benefits financially with support from the European Social Fund and it is a great example of how direct investment from the EU is helping to diversify and strengthen the economic and social development of local communities.”

“Despite only being an MEP for three months, students were keen to quiz me on my roles and responsibilities representing Wales in the European Parliament.  It was an interesting and informative visit and I am sure that Yale College will continue to deliver excellent further and higher education for the Wrexham area.”
