Working hard for Wales in Europe

European MP makes key visit to South Hook LNG plant

Derek Vaughan, Labour Member of the European Parliament for Wales, will this week (Friday, 29 January 2010) take the opportunity to visit the South Hook LNG terminal in Milford Haven.

He will meet with management and staff to hold talks on how the terminal is boosting the local economy in Pembrokeshire as well as the role that the facility will have in the development of energy policy in Wales in the future.

DEREK VAUGHAN MEP said:

"The recent adverse weather we have had has placed unprecedented pressures on the UK energy system.  Questions are being raised about its ability to withstand the level of demand we have seen this Winter.  South Hook will play an increasingly important part in helping us to improve the security and diversity of energy supply that we need.

South Hook is a ground breaking, landmark project for Milford Haven that is setting the standards for the energy industry in Wales, the UK and Europe.

It is vital for the employment prospects of Pembrokeshire as well as providing a huge contribution to the energy economy in Wales."
