Welsh Labour MEP, Derek Vaughan, has recently (Friday, 16 April 2010) visited a community run facility in Mountain Ash that is playing a valuable role in improving levels of health and well being in the area.
Mr Vaughan dropped into Bryncynon Healthy Living Centre in Matthewston to find out for himself about the ongoing work of the Bryncynon Strategy, a local regeneration charity that has been up and running for over a decade, and to learn about their plans for the future. The charity provides child and family healthy living activities, as well as services for adults and children with existing health problems.
Welsh Labour MEP, DEREK VAUGHAN, said:
"It has been refreshing experience to come to Bryncynon and see the efforts being made by local people to provide advice, information and facilities to tackle longstanding health issues in the community.
This project, which has been helped by investment from the European Union, is leading the way in showing that there is a brighter future health-wise, particularly for families and young people.
I am impressed at the joined up approach that the Healthy Living Centre has taken, working with various groups and organisations throughout the region to deal with the long term problems that have affected the lives of residents in the past."
