EU funded scheme will create young entrepreneurs of the future

A new £4.4m project to drive up the number of young people in Wales starting their own business will look to create “entrepreneurs of the future” according to Welsh Labour MEP, Derek Vaughan.

Supported by the European Regional Development Fund, the Welsh Government’s Youth Entrepreneurship Services (YES) will encourage youngsters from primary school age through to further and higher education to develop ideas and expertise within the business world.

The scheme will bring together a range of existing companies and entrepreneurs to pass on their knowledge and experience to young people looking to make their mark and be their own boss.

DEREK VAUGHAN MEP said:

“Starting your own business can be a rewarding venture and it is vital, if we are to create more sustainable jobs and growth across the Welsh economy, that we provide the opportunities and assistance for young people to flourish in the worlds of industry and commerce.”

“There is undoubted talent, ability and aspiration amongst our younger generation and this scheme seeks to tap into that and give youngsters the tools that they need to fulfil their potential and work for themselves.”

“With the Welsh Government and the EU working closely together to target both those within and outside the education system, the YES project will build on changing attitudes in Wales and nurture the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.”
